Our beach stay cancellation policy for every reservation
This page sets out our beach stay cancellation policy in plain terms. Because the hotel takes your payment and sets its own rules, most of what follows is about how we help you work with those rules before and after a reservation is held.
No payment is ever collected on this website, and the hotel pays our office a commission after the stay. That keeps your side simple: you settle money with the hotel, and you come to us for planning and for changes.
Nothing of ours to refund
We charge you no planning fee and no booking fee, and no payment is ever taken on this website. So if you cancel, there is no charge from our office to return, and nothing extra from us for canceling either. Your money only ever goes to the hotel.
Refund rules copied from each hotel
Each hotel writes its own cancellation terms, and those terms govern your stay. We copy them into your quote, next to the nights and the total, so you can read them before you reply yes.
Terms vary from one hotel to the next. If a line in them is unclear, write to our office and we will ask the hotel what it means before you decide.
Moving a stay to other dates
To move your dates, write to us at any time or call on a phone day. We ask the hotel whether a room is open for the new nights and at what rate, and send you the answer in writing. If your check-in is within the next three days, call on a phone day, or on a Wednesday write with "check-in this week" at the top.
Canceling a held room
To cancel, write to our office, or call us on a phone day, and we pass the cancellation to the hotel. Calling the hotel's desk yourself works as well. The hotel refunds whatever its terms allow. That money moves between you and the hotel, so the refund comes from the hotel itself, and we can follow up with the hotel if you would like.
Weather, wind and water conditions
Lake Erie and the Atlantic can turn rough, and a storm or cold water can change a week at the beach. Our office holds no money of yours to return, so a weather refund is a question for the hotel, and its terms decide the answer. We are glad to ask the hotel on your behalf.
Local passes and beach tags
Beach tags in Cape May and Ocean City NJ, the refuge vehicle pass at Chincoteague and town parking meters are bought from the town or refuge that issues them. Each issuer sets its own rules on refunds, so ask about them when you buy a tag or pass.
At Lakeside the two adult four-day gate passes and South Gate car parking come inside the hotel's package, so those package terms are the hotel's. Canceling four midweek nights at Lakeside follows the hotel's cancellation terms in your quote, passes included.
